The Design

Our Lady of Guadalupe is a title given to the Virgin Mary. She appeared to St. Juan Diego and sent him on a mission to petition the bishop to build a shrine. 

The bishop did not listen at first until Juan Diego later returned and opened his cloak to show the many roses that miraculously grew in the spot where Our Lady had met him. In addition to the roses, an image appeared on the tilma of Our Lady of Guadalupe. 

This rash guard has a depiction of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the front with the words "Ave Maria" written on the right arm.
